I was born on the 13th of January 1975 in Bellshill, Scotland. Having lived in Scotland for most of my life and my main job being based around the Semiconductor Manufacturing industries work dictated a move away from the land of "Haggis, Neeps and Tatties" in 2000 when I moved to Newport, South Wales.
My stay in Wales was shortlived as the company I worked for went into liquidation and I then moved to Sunnyvale, California as a Customer Support Engineer for Genus Inc in April 2002, which took me around California, a while in Minnesota and then over to Derry in Northern Ireland where I lived from July 2002 until May 2007 looking after the daily upkeep and running of my Californian companies machines.
I've always been a keen car enthusiast since an early age, more than likely due to my father always working on cars around the house, and therefore as soon as I was legally allowed behind the wheel there was no looking back. Over the years I've come to own somewhat of a hareem of Vauxhall Astra's - you name it, from an old skool Mk1 through every generation to the current Mk 5 Sri which has now gone too in favour of my current car - a 5.7 V8 Vauxhall Monaro (did I say Vauxhall, cough cough, I mean Holden).
Being a keen photographer meant that as I attended car shows and events all over the UK, Europe and World I was taking many pictures (which at this stage were for my own personal use), but as the years have passed my work has been used on several website's throughout the online car enthusiasts community around the globe as well as several national magazine publications such as Total Vauxhall, Fast & Modified, XL Magazine, Flat 2 The Mat, Modified Motors as well as several regional magazines and newspapers - many of which you will be able to find in the "In Print" section of my website.
At the beginning of 2006 Genus Inc merged with a German company called Aixtron and with me being inside the European sector it meant that in June 2007 I was to be found packing up my belongings in Derry and heading out to Aachen in Germany where Aixtron are based. At first I was a little apprehensive of the move, but once you discover Spa is only a hop skip and a jump over the border into Belgium and the Nurburgring only an hour and a bit away too it soon puts a smile on almost any petrolhead's face. So I'm now to be found living in a small village called Alsdorf about 15km away from work which coincidentally is next door to the Ford Motor Company offices out here, and about 18km or so away from the thriving student-infested area which is better known as the town centre of Aachen itself.
I hope you enjoy the small sample of my work I have put online, and if you have any questions, please feel free to drop me an email...
Kind Regards, Barry
