Event: Overdrive, Mondello Racetrack, Republic of Ireland

With the great success of last year's event it was only a matter of time before this years event was sorted out. 2 weeks ago it was with great surprise that we were told about the event happening at the end of June, which left very little time to get the word out and about the country in order to get the crowds along on the day.

Thankfully come Sunday morning the sun was shining which always helps people make their minds up as to whether or not they head out the door to a show or event or sit at home with the feet up while it rains all day long. Overdrive brought together drag racing, drifting, stunt shows, autotesting and hundreds of show cars on club stands and the general show and shine area.

Fresh from the previous days action at Rockingham where the top 3 drifting prizes went to Irish lads, the drifting proved one of the biggest crowd-pullers of the show, with some amazing sideways action and plenty of smoke on show. The early stages let the cars out on track on their own to get to grips with the corners etc and then later on the drivers were all paired up to go out head to head, which as always provided great action as the pairs chased one another around the track.

Steer From The Rear had the stunt arena buzzing with their 300ZX diffing display which they will be taking over to Max Power Live next weekend. On the other side of the show and shine area the autotesting team were putting their cars through a rigorous section of poles in front of the crowd. Over on the main straight we had the drag racing throughout the day too, with some very high power cars running flat out to try and walk away with the fastest time on the day.

Another great day out at Mondello, with the sun making it even more enjoyable and sending many home a little browner than when they came through the gates.
