Event:
Toys 4 Big Boys Show, Royal Dublin
Showgrounds, Dublin, Republic of
Ireland
Dates:
Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th November 2005
This weekend saw the Royal Dublin Society
Showground play host to the Toys 4 Big Boys show, which brings everything that
you would buy if money was no object under one roof - so it was sensible to make
sure the credit card was left firmly at home before heading to this show!
As you entered the main hall of the show you were greeted straight away by
Jacuzzi's and hot tubs galore, pool tables, air hockey tables and some of
Nokia's latest gadgets were there for you to have a play with. Sony and BT also
had stands with their latest products available, such as the new Sony MP3
Walkman which was the subject of many people's attention.
Sony had their Playstation dome kitted out with several stands which had their
latest toy - the Playstation Portable for people to play with, and judging by
the queue's waiting to get a shot of the console these are proving very popular.
There were so many stands around the show that everywhere you looked there was
something else to take your attention, including replica masks and swords from
films such as Gladiator.
Toddsleap had brought along a huge climbing wall which kept the kids happy as
they raced their friends up it and then had a go at the Fifa penalty shoot out
game next door.
A show like this wouldn't be complete without some cars with huge price tags and
they were present near the rear of the main hall with Nissan, Lotus, Porsche,
Aston Martin, several Ferarri's and a jaw-dropping Invicta. David Smyth had
brought along one of his Subaru Impreza's from Rally School Ireland as well, and
spent most of the day chatting to people who had already taken part in one of
his courses in Monaghan or were booked up for one in the future.
For those with a larger wallet there were a number of speedboats around the
show, as well as a helicopter used for lessons. Outside the main halls a
selection of Army vehicles including a huge Cheiftan tank were put through their
paces in an enclosure which at times was around 5-10 people deep watching these
machines maneouvering around one another.
